Google officials, who gave information to the Digital Media Commission of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, were stunned by CHP’s Özkan’s “Whose question of Baklava is answered differently in Turkey and Greece”!
Önder Yılmaz – An interesting “baklava” test, which shocked Google and YouTube officials, took place at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey’s Digital Media Commission.
In the commission, Google and YouTube officials cited the “baklava” example, noting that aggregated and anonymized interaction data is used to assess whether search results are relevant to queries, and this data is converted into signals that help machine learning systems better predict relevance. Officials noted:
“For example, when we search for the word ‘baklava’, you probably don’t want to come across ‘websites’ with the word ‘baklava’ in them. Here, when ‘baklava’ is searched, the algorithm tries to detect useful information over anonymous data, and based on this keyword, the recipe, where you can order, where you can order, maybe there are baklava making videos. While I was preparing for this meeting, when I actually searched for “baklava”, I googled ‘Which country is Baklava from?’ The question arises, and the answer ‘It has been registered that Turkey exists’ appears under it.”
‘I’m a Google liar’
Meanwhile, CHP İzmir Deputy Tuncay Özkan’s statement, “There is an answer that ‘Greece has been registered,'” shocked Google officials at once. The authorities replied, “Let’s look at it again because when I called, the source was also written, it is from abroad. Don’t be wrong, but I’m just saying what I saw.”
Özkan said, “So you say ‘I am a liar from Google’?” His response shocked Google officials for the second time. Other commission members expressed their satisfaction with the criticism, saying “it was very good alone”. This time, the authorities could only say, “Mr. Deputy, it’s a little late at night so it’s a lot right now…” and they couldn’t complete their sentences.
‘Baklava Turkish dessert’
Chairman of the Commission, Hüseyin Yayman, from the AK Party, stated that baklava is registered as a Turkish dessert by the EU, and said, “Baklava is a Turkish dessert, it will remain a Turkish dessert. In any case, Greece has an attitude that goes beyond its purpose due to the issue of bases between Turkey and Greece, and also because of the baklava issue. He softened the atmosphere with the words “Don’t let the black cat enter.”
